Receiver Agent

General Information

Data reception and conversion can be performed in two different modes: by the main program or the "Receiver Agent" app. The Receiver Agent runs independently and can receive data even when the main program itself is not running. The agent reports the arrival of new examinations and reminds to start the main program to import the data to the database. And concerning cable transmission (HFA 2, older Octopus devices) no data is lost. Receiving visual field data becomes more secure and more transparent with the Receiver Agent.

The Receiver Agent App

This button in the main program indicates that the Receiver Agent app is running and has taken over the data reception. If the button is gray then the main program receives the data itself.

Using the Agent

To use the Receiver Agent, check the "Receiver Agent" box in Options > Perimeter page. On this page, you can also set up automatic startup with the main program. The program (rxagent.exe) can also be started independently, e.g., in Windows Autostart. The Receiver Agent runs independently and is NOT closed when the main program is closed. This ensures that it is always ready to receive data.

If you do not start the Receiver Agent, the main program handles data reception and conversion as long as it is running. This works as before.

Cable Transmission (RS-232) on a separate PC (replacement for the old "Receiver Mode")

If data transmission and import into the database are running on two different PCs (e.g., logical separation in the Terminal Server RDP window and on the local PC), the "Receiver Mode" was previously used. This function has changed. Details are given on the page Terminal Server Configuration im the CASE 3.

Device Configuration for the Receiver Agent (in the main program)

The Receiver Agent does not have its own Options menu; instead, it inherits the settings from the main program. This applies to device interfaces and language. If you want to change interfaces, you must exit the Receiver Agent before making the changes in the main program.
